Your mix may be too lean if you are getting excessive backfiring on deceleration, blue-ing of the exhaust pipe or spark plugs that seem not to be functioning, but look very clean. You may also get a hesitation or “dead spot” during acceleration. Blue-ing of exhaust pipes is a telltale sign of a lean fuel mixture.
I went through everything, Pipes, Carb, Jets, PAIR removal, Open air intake etc etc to try and stop the backfires.. Nothing seemed to work, it got a little better, but was still very embarrassing.... Oddly enough it stopped when I drilled my Pipes (Clayton Mod). I am sure it was just a combination of all the above, not just the drill.. Gas discharge tube circuit.
Mar 31, 2009 · Well if its blowing fuel back out through through the carb then this would mean the rv would be allowing compression to blow back through the carb.But if its backfireing like poping it could also be out of sync. if you have done that carb right and checked that pulse pump line very good,then I would have to say RV....I know trust me I have worked on these boats and they are a PITA to work on,standing on your head most of the time,what year is this boat??
